It is harming the global economic state which is hazardous for people in general.\u00a0<span>Counterfeit<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>notes are hard to notice, but like any other<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>counterfeit<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>goods, if one looks closely enough they might spot the difference.<\/p>\n<p>Since India is apparently the world&#8217;s largest producers of<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>bank<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>notes, RBI has devised some security measures which should help people<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>identify<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>a<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>counterfeit\u00a0<\/span>banknote.<br \/>\n<!--more--><strong>Watermark<br \/>\n<\/strong>It is a widely known fact that the<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>Indian<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>banknotes have Mahatma Gandhi&#8217;s picture printed on them, but there is also a watermark which presents at the end of each banknote and is only visible when its held against any light source.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Security Thread<br \/>\n<\/strong>Every<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>Indian<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><span>Note<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>consists of a vertical line of security thread that goes from somewhere in the middle right beside Mahatma Gandhi&#8217;s face. This thread is also visible when the<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>note<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>is held near any light source.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Presence of a Latent Image<br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">On the right-hand side of Mahatma Gandhi&#8217;s picture, there is a latent image that shows the numerical equivalence of that<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">note<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">. Half of its design can be observed just by looking closely and the other half when kept near any light source.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Micro-Lettering<br \/>\n<\/strong>To check this out, a magnifier is required. Present just between the vertical band and the picture of Gandhi, these micro-letters when seen with a magnifier shows the word RBI along with the denominational values of specific notes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Intaglio Print<br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">It is a type of printing where the image gets engraved giving one a feel of the print with its undulations. All the highlighting portions of a<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">note<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">, i.e., from the Reserve<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Bank<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">seal to RBI Governor&#8217;s signature.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fluorescence<br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">This feature might not be visible to the naked eyes for obvious reasons, but it acts as a mark of authenticity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>If one follows the protocols mentioned above, then they can definitely be able to rid themselves the hassles of getting duped notes.
